The way it is worded seems to suggest that Westinghouse oversees its production which is carried out by external companies. Unfortunately, I could not find much more information regarding who makes Westinghouse generators.

So, it is probably best to go under the assumption that Westinghouse generators are made by a third-party company under the supervision of Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment, LLC.

Where are Westinghouse Generators Made?

As mentioned above, Westinghouse generators are made in China and Vietnam. There are a couple of third-party articles that state Westinghouse generators are American made, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

It clearly states on the company’s official website that its generators are made in China and Vietnam. It looks like those third-party articles are confusing the phrase ‘designed in’ with ‘made in’.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out where in China and Vietnam Westinghouse’s generators are made.

For those wanting to take a look at generators made closer to home, we have written a couple of articles that you may find interesting. Check out our article on American made generators. We also have one on generators made in Canada for any Canadian readers out there.

History of Westinghouse Generators

Westinghouse dates back to 1886 when it was founded by George Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In the early part of the 20th century, Westinghouse played an integral role in the development of AC electrical systems. This put Westinghouse in competition with Thomas Edison’s DC systems.

Westinghouse has always been a company that has a lot to offer. It initially focused on products like light bulbs and basic household appliances. It wasn’t until a couple of decades after the company was founded that it began to pick up a reputation for its quality generators.

Throughout the mid and late 1900s, Westinghouse remained front and center in the world of generator production. The company worked in many different sectors and it even had a role to play in the development of nuclear power plants.

Today, the company offers a wide array of generators across a multitude of sectors. From small portable generators to large generators designed for more heavy-duty use, Westinghouse has lots of options to choose from. Many of its generator lines even have remote start functionality built into them.
