When it comes to babies, only the best will do. While it is possible to buy a cheap stroller made overseas, they are often not the best in terms of quality, not to mention bad for the environment. In this article, I’ll be taking a look at baby strollers made in the USA.
Are There Any Baby Strollers Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
After an extensive search for American made baby strollers, I could not find a single brand that offers them. However, I did find a lot of companies that people mistake as being American manufacturers.
Baby Strollers that People Think Are American Made (But They’re Not)
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding American made strollers. I read through countless parenting websites that have articles dedicated to American made strollers. However, every company featured in these articles manufactures their strollers overseas. Here’s what I found.
A quick note before diving in. I will not be naming or attaching links to the websites that are putting out the false information as I do not want to cause any issues for those who wrote them. That said, a quick Google search for ‘Strollers Made in the USA’ will show some of the websites that I am referring to.
Also, due to the sheer quantity of companies that meet the criteria for this list, I’ll only be focusing on the ones that came up the most during my research.
Chicco
Chicco is a well-known baby brand that produces products for consumers in many countries all over the world. While several parenting websites have Chicco down as an American manufacturer, this simply isn’t the case.
While the company operates offices in many countries, including a headquarters in the USA, the company’s products are made in Italy and China. But the majority of its production takes place in facilities dotted throughout China.
UPPAbaby
UPPAbaby is an American based company. While all of its strollers are designed at its headquarters in Rockland, Massachusetts, its production is carried out overseas.
The company is very open regarding its manufacturing. It clearly states on UPPAbaby’s official website that its strollers are all manufactured in China. Perhaps the third-party websites that are claiming UPPAbaby manufactures its strollers in the USA are mistaking the company headquarters for its manufacturing plant.
Bumbleride
Bumbleride got its start in 2004 when Mat and Emily Reichardt had their first child Ella. The birth of their first child inspired them to start the Bumbleride company in San Diego. While the company got its start in the US, its products are not made in America.
According to the company’s website, Bumbleride products are made in Taiwan. They are made at a family-owned and run facility that pays fair wages and provides employees with good work conditions. Nevertheless, Bumbleride’s strollers are made in Taiwan.
Graco
Graco is an American company that was founded in 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Much like some of the other companies on this list, while it is based in the USA, its products are made overseas.
Also like the other entries on this list, Graco is very clear about where its strollers are made. According to the Graco website, its strollers and travel systems are manufactured in China.
