With many companies opting to manufacture overseas in a bid to reduce costs and increase production, it is becoming harder and harder to find products that are made outside of countries like China. But, is this true for mattresses? Well, in this article, I’ll be looking at mattresses made in the USA.
Are There Any Mattresses Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
It turns out that there are lots of companies that manufacture mattresses in the USA. I managed to find 9 companies that manufacture mattresses in the US and a handful of honorable mentions. The 9 companies I found are Saatva, Purple, Helix Sleep, Winkbeds, Casper, Nest Bedding, Nolah, Amerisleep, and PlushBeds.

Now that we have a list of American mattress manufacturers, let’s take a look at each one in more detail.
Saatva
Founded in 2010, Saatva is a privately held direct-to-consumer mattress manufacturer. It is a company that offers handcrafted, eco-friendly mattresses that are all made to order in the USA. All of Saatva’s mattresses are made using high-quality materials and are built to last.

Purple
Purple was founded by two brothers in Utah in 2015. It has quickly become one of America’s most sought-after premium mattress providers having sold its products to people all over the US.
According to the company’s support website, its mattresses are made in the USA. Its headquarters is located in Utah, which is also home to its two main manufacturing locations. It also has a facility in Blackville, Georgia that it recently acquired.

Helix Sleep
Helix Sleep was founded in January 2015. While the company doesn’t have a particularly long history, during its relatively short time in the industry, Helix Sleep has helped to shape the way that mattresses are made.
According to the company’s website, every Helix mattress is assembled at its facility in Arizona. As most readers know, ‘assembled in’ and ‘made in’ can mean two different things.
However, according to numerous reputable sources, including ConsumerRating.Org, Helix mattresses are all 100% made in the USA.

WinkBeds is a proud American mattress manufacturer. It was founded in 2015 and has made big waves in the mattress industry. All of WinkBeds’ mattresses are handmade to order, ensuring that every customer receives a freshly made mattress.
As for its manufacturing locations, WinkBeds’ operates solely within the US. Not only are its mattresses made in the US, but they are made using high-quality American sourced materials. WinkBeds has facilities in Wisconsin, Texas, Arizona, and Connecticut. It is at these facilities that all of the company’s production takes place.

I initially struggled to find out whether or not Casper manufactures its products in the US. So, I got in touch with the company and I was told directly by a Casper representative that all of the company’s mattresses are proudly made in the USA.

Nest Bedding
Nest Bedding is a family-owned bedding company that was founded in 2011. The company started with its now famous bed-in-a-box. Since then, Nest Bedding has developed new lines of products and it now offers sustainably made quality bedding and bed-related products all manufactured in the US.
According to the company’s official website, all of Nest Bedding’s mattresses are designed and manufactured at its facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Its mattresses are made using high-quality materials and are completely free of the chemicals that are present in many modern mattresses.

Nolah
Nolah was founded in 2016. It aims to change the health and wellness of American people through good quality sleep. The company uses the latest advancements in memory foam technology to create mattresses that offer a pressure-relieving sleep experience for its customers.
As for its manufacturing, according to Nolah’s official website, all of its mattresses are made in the USA.
Its mattresses are made to order at its state-of-the-art facility in Arizona. While the company does use some domestic parts for its products, it does also rely on some materials from overseas. But as you can see in the image below, it does all of its manufacturing within the US.

Amerisleep was founded in 2010. And, since its very beginning, it has been manufacturing its mattresses in the USA. According to the company’s FAQ page, all of its mattresses are made in the US.
Its mattresses have been engineered to be breathable, responsive, and eco-friendly. Amerisleep uses plant-based and eco-friendly materials that are certified by CertiPUR-US to manufacture its mattresses.

PlushBeds
PlushBeds offers premium handcrafted beds and mattresses for people all over the US. PlushBeds was founded in 2008. It is a family-owned company and it has no outside investors.
According to PlushBed’s official website, every one of its mattresses is made at the company’s facility in California. Its products are all made and shipped directly from its California based facility.

Honorable Mentions
I came across a few companies that seem to produce some mattresses in the US. However, concrete proof was hard to come by so they got an honorable mention. Here’s what I found.
Serta
Founded in 1931, Serta is a major player in the mattress industry. The company sells products in 150 countries worldwide making it a very far-reaching company.
Serta operates lots of facilities. In fact, it has 27 facilities in the US, 4 in Canada, and 33 in countries dotted around the world.
According to Serta’s website, all of its mattresses are designed and assembled in the US. Now, as I’m sure most readers already know, ‘assembled in’ and ‘made in’ are two different things.
Since the company also operates manufacturing facilities overseas, it is impossible to tell how much manufacturing takes place in the US. Because of this, the company gets an honorable mention.

Sealy
Sealy is America’s number 1 mattress brand. It dates back to 1881 making it one of the oldest American mattress companies out there. While the company has changed over the years, its core values have remained the same, offering people a good night’s sleep on a mattress that is built to last.
While it is true that Sealy does manufacture some of its mattresses in the US, the company also operates facilities in Canada, Australia, Thailand, and China. It states on the company’s official website that its mattresses are ‘proudly built in the USA.’ This is true, but ‘built in’ and ‘made in’ mean two different things.

DreamCloud
DreamCloud is a popular mattress company that has over 4,000 stores worldwide. It is a far-reaching company that sells mattresses in countries all over the world. According to DreamCloud’s website, it has manufacturing locations in various countries like Vietnam, China, Mexico, and the US.
So, DreamCloud does conduct some of its manufacturing in the US. However, I could not find details of specific mattress lines being made in the US, so it gets an honorable mention. If any readers know more about DreamCloud’s American made mattresses then get in touch via the comment section below.

Mattresses that People Wrongly Think Are Made in America
I came across a company that, at first glance, seems to manufacture its mattresses in the USA. However, after taking a closer look, the company below actually manufactures its mattresses overseas. Here’s what I found.
Nectar
Nectar is a very well-known mattress manufacturer that sells mattresses to customers all over the world. It was founded in 2016 and its headquarters is located in California. There are a handful of third-party websites out there that claim Nectar’s mattresses are made in the USA, however, this is not the case.
Nectar’s mattresses are all made in China and a few are made in the UK. It is very easy to see where people are mistaking it for an American manufacturer. Up until fairly recently, Nectar labeled its mattresses as ‘assembled in the USA’. However, this isn’t true.
According to an article posted by the Federal Trade Commission. In 2018, Nectar settled charges regarding it falsely claiming that its mattresses are assembled in the USA.
Nectar agreed to stop claiming that its mattresses are assembled in the US. You can read all about that case here if you want more details.
