When it comes to buying a new mattress, there are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration. One thing that a lot of people want to know is where their mattress was made. So, in this article, I’ll be finding out who makes Purple mattresses and where they are made.
Who Makes Purple Mattresses?
After doing lots of research, it looks like Purple mattresses are made by Purple and a shell company. Unfortunately, details are somewhat scarce regarding who makes Purple’s mattresses.
All things point to the company being responsible for making its own mattresses. However, it is unclear how involved the aforementioned shell company is regarding Purple’s production. The first mention I could find about this was in a post on Forbes written back in 2017.
I also came across another article on Tech Crunch dated around the same time as the Forbes piece that names the shell company as Global Partner Acquisition Corp (GPAC).
So, based on my research, it looks like Purple’s mattresses are manufactured by Purple, but possibly with some assistance from the shell company mentioned above.
Where Are Purple Mattresses Made?
According to Bed Times Magazine, Purple mattresses are made in two facilities in the US. One is located in Alpine, Utah, and the other is in Greenville, Utah. Also, Joe Megibow, Purple’s chief executive officer said “We are proud to be a U.S. manufacturer.”
So, Purple mattresses would definitely appear to be made in the USA. This is also confirmed on the company’s official support website as you can see in the image below.
It is worth noting that the company recently added a new plant to its portfolio. It now has a manufacturing facility in Blacksville, Georgia.
So, if you buy from Purple then you will receive a mattress that was manufactured in the USA.

History of Purple Mattresses
Purple was founded in 2015 by brothers Tony and Terry Pearce. The company was established in Utah, and at the time of writing this piece, Utah is still home to Purples’ headquarters.
Despite being a relatively young company when compared to some of the other American mattress manufacturers out there, it has received a fair amount of awards and accolades for its quality mattresses.
From being featured in such magazines as GQ and BuzzFeed to being ranked the number 2 company at the 24th annual Utah 100 Awards Program, Purple has achieved a lot in a fairly short amount of time.
Purple is a company with a lot to offer. It is constantly rolling out new state-of-the-art mattresses for customers up and down the US. It is going to be interesting to see what Purple is going to work on next.
