This article was supposed to be about kettles made in the USA. However, there doesn’t seem to be any. There were a couple of companies that seemed to produce their kettles in America but upon further investigation that wasn’t the case.
I’m going to talk about what I found during my search, as it might still help in some way if you’re on the hunt for an American made kettle.
Are There Any Kettles Made in America? (The Short Answer)
There are a few companies that claim to make kettles in America but when you do a little digging, the evidence seems to point to them making their kettles overseas. Kettles made by Cafe Brew and IMUSA both fall into this category.
Brands that Turned Out to Be Dead Ends in My Search for American Made Kettles
Cafe Brew seemed like a company that manufactures its kettles in America. According to their website, Cafe Brew products and accessories are “Manufactured by Medelco, Incorporated in Bridgeport, Connecticut.”
This seems a little misleading as it suggests that their products are made in America. But this doesn’t seem to be the case upon further investigation. While Cafe Brew products are assembled in America, it looks like the parts are manufactured in China, then they are shipped over to be assembled by Medelco at their facility in Connecticut.
It’s not as clear for this one as it seems like some of their manufacturing does take place in America. But the question is how much of the manufacturing takes place in the US?
According to an article by the Miami Herald only around 1% of IMUSA’s manufacturing takes place in America. Here’s the estimated breakdown of manufacturing locations according to the Miami Herald:
So although 1% of manufacturing does take place in America, it seems that there’s very little chance that a kettle purchased from IMUSA will be an American made product.
Although I could not find any kettle brands that make their products in the USA, some of you may have come across some kettles made in America. If so, feel free to contact us and let us know what you have found and we will update the article.
