Which Companies Sell Golf Clubs Made in America (The Short Answer)

Looking around the internet, it can be hard to find the information you’re looking for. That’s why I’ve done all of the research so you don’t have to! I’ve scoured the internet for information on companies that make golf clubs in the United States, and I’ve found four. Those companies are PING, PXG, Titleist, and Tour Edge.  Read on to learn more about each of them!

American-Made Golf Clubs (4 Brands to Choose From)

It might surprise you to learn that there aren’t more companies dedicated to making golf clubs in the United States. After all, golf is one of the country’s most popular sports!

PING

The first company on my list, PING, was founded by Karsten Solheim in 1959. Mr. Solheim was working as an engineer at General Electric at the time, and decided to leverage his skills to engineer his own golf club after having some frustrating experiences with his own golf games. Karsten Solheim produced his first putters in his garage at his residence in Redwood City, California. He began working for his newly founded company full-time in 1967.

PING is named after the sound that golf balls make when struck by a putter. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. It is the only golf club manufacturer in the United States that is both owned and operated as a family enterprise. The company owns facilities in Japan and in Vietnam, however the company directly states that all of its products are made in the United States. It is possible that the overseas facilities are used to manufacture components, or to repair damaged products.

Karsten Manufacturing Factory, located in Phoenix, Arizona, is the company’s main manufacturing facility.

PXG

It may surprise you to learn that PXG is an abbreviation! It stands for “Parsons Xtreme Golf.” This company was founded by Bob Parsons—the same man who founded GoDaddy. Bob Parsons is a billionaire known for his philanthropy and entrepreneurship. Bob Parsons established PXG in 2014, and the company has been manufacturing golf clubs since 2015.

Mr. Parsons has stated that he founded the company in an attempt to make better golf equipment than what was commercially available at the time; he claims that he spent somewhere around $350,000 every year trying to find the right golf equipment for himself before he finally gave up.

PXG is unusual among major companies based in the US. Most of the companies I write about that restrict their manufacturing to a specific country (like the United States) will actually source some or all of their components from overseas, and then assemble their products in their chosen country.

However, PXG doesn’t do this. PXG manufactures all of its components in the United States; it assembles all of its products in the United States, and it conducts all testing in the United States.

PXG had seventy employees as of 2015. The company has a 35,000-square-foot facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, which conducts research and development and manufactures golf clubs. I was unable to find out if this is the company’s only facility; I suspect it is not, but I can’t be sure.

Titleist

Compared to the other two companies I’ve listed so far, Titleist is quite old. Titleist was founded all the way back in 1932 by Philip Young. Philip Young came up with the idea to found his own golf company when he discovered that most of the commercially available golf balls he examined via x-ray were poorly constructed, featuring off-center rubber cores which would cause golf balls to move in erratic and unpredictable ways when hit with a golf club.

The company that he founded was originally dedicated entirely to the production of golf balls, and the firm’s golf balls have remained its most prominent product throughout company history.

Titleist is headquartered in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Its golf balls are produced in New Haven, Connecticut, but don’t be fooled! Titleist golf clubs are produced at a separate manufacturing plant in Carlsbad, California. The factory measures 137,000-square-feet.

All Titleist golf clubs are produced in the United States. I have come across some rumors which suggest that Titleist sources at least some of its materials from China and/or Japan, but nothing which confirms this.

Regardless, you can be certain that a significant amount of American sweat has gone into making these products, so if you want to support the American economy, it’s safe to buy from Titleist.

Tour Edge

This company was established in 1986 by David Glod. David Glod had had a career as a golfing professional in Illinois, and wanted to establish a company to provide golfing equipment which balanced quality with affordability. Tour Edge produced its first golf club in 1987, and remains one of the world’s best golf equipment manufacturers today.

Tour Edge has its headquarters in Batavia, Illinois, and the company owns and operates a 51,000-square-foot factory at 1301 Pierson Dr in Batavia, Illinois. I wasn’t able to find a source that would confirm that the two are located in the same building, but it’s a pretty good bet that they are.

Tour Edge offers a lifetime guarantee on its golf clubs, something I understand is quite unusual among golf companies. The company’s products have been used in 26 victories in the PGA Tours.
