Hiking boots are a must for all those adventurous people out there. But I’m sure that most people who own a pair of hiking boots don’t actually know where their boots were manufactured. Well, in this article, I’ll be looking for German-made hiking boots.
For the entries on the list below, I wasn’t able to find out which exact products are made in Germany. So I’ve put a link to each company’s contact page in each entry for readers to get in touch directly with the company for more information.
Brands that Make Hiking Boots in Germany? (The Short Answer)
After doing some digging, I found 4 companies that manufacture at least some hiking boots in Germany. They are Meindl, Hanwag, LOWA, and Haix.

Now that we know which brands manufacture German hiking boots, let’s take a closer look at each company.
Meindl
Meindl was officially founded in 1928, however, its history dates back to 1683 when Petrus Meindl started producing shoes for local people. The company was founded in Kirchanschöring, Germany and it is still located here today.
Like many other companies out there, Meindl has facilities in a few different countries. Meindl has facilities in Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Vietnam, and in Germany. However, from what I was able to find, it looks like a lot of its manufacturing still takes place in Germany.
I’d recommend contacting the company via its contact page before committing to a purchase to ensure that the product you desire was manufactured in Germany.
Being eco-friendly is very important to Meindl. Over the years the company has taken large steps to become as green as possible. From planting trees to using sustainable materials, there’s a lot that Meindl does to protect the environment.

LOWA’s products are handmade and all of its materials and components are sourced from within Europe. 100% of the company’s operation takes place within Europe.

Finishing off this list, we have Haix. Haix was founded in 1948 in Mainburg, Germany. Over the years the company has grown to become internationally recognized for its high-quality footwear.
Haix is very open about its company history, this includes its manufacturing. Haix has manufacturing facilities in Germany and in Croatia meaning that 100% of the company’s production takes place within Europe. I wasn’t able to find out what percentage of its products are made in Germany.
