Depending on where you live, a snow blower might be crucial during those winter months. With many companies opting to manufacture overseas, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find companies that manufacture products within the US. But is this true for snow blowers? Well, in this article, I’ll be looking for snow blowers made in the USA.
Which Companies Sell Snow Blowers Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
After an extensive search for American made snow blowers, it turns out that there aren’t that many options. In fact, I could only find one company that manufactures both the frames and the engines of snow blowers within the USA. That company is Honda.
American Made Snow Blowers (What My Research Turned Up)
Now that we know which company manufactures snow blowers in the USA, let’s look at it in a little more detail.
Honda
While Honda isn’t usually a company that people associate with American manufacturing, it does manufacture a couple of its snow blower lines in the USA. Honda was founded in 1948 in Shizuoka, Japan. It wasn’t until 1979 that the company began producing products in the USA. Today, Honda operates 12 manufacturing plants across the US.
As for its snow blowers, it manufactures its HSS Series products at a facility in Swepsonville, North Carolina. It is important to note that while the company does use domestically sourced parts, it also uses parts from overseas.

Honorable Mentions
During my research, I found a couple of companies that may produce some snow blowers in the USA. While both companies conduct some manufacturing within the US, it looks like they both rely on overseas production to some degree. Here’s what I found.
Cub Cadet
Cub Cadet is a very well-known heavy-duty power appliance company. It was founded in the 1960s and it produces lawn mowers and snow blowers. The company’s products are highly sought after due to the sheer quality of its snow blowers. It is a company used by both professionals and regular consumers.
Cub Cadet’s manufacturing is carried out by a company named MTD. It has facilities in Ohio, Mississippi, and Tennessee. While the company does like to produce as much as possible within the US, it looks like it does rely on overseas production for some of its products.
MTD operates facilities in more than 20 countries worldwide. This makes it tricky when trying to find out which of its product lines are American made.
On top of that, Cub Cadet uses Kawasaki and Kohler engines for its snow blowers, according to a report by snowblowers.net.
Kawasaki engines are assembled at a facility in Maryville, Missouri. Notice how I said assembled. As I’m sure that many readers already know, ‘assembled in’ and ‘made in’ can mean two different things.
So an engine that is assembled in the US could make use of components that are mostly pre-built elsewhere.
There’s no evidence to suggest that this is the case for Kawasaki, but I couldn’t find out with absolute certainty whether or not the company relies primarily on overseas components for its engines.
As you have probably noticed in the Honda entry in the section above, having globally sourced components is very common. That said, a company that sources some of its components domestically is a better choice for those wanting to buy locally.
As for Kohler engines, since 2007, most of the production of Kohler engines takes place at a facility in Chongqing, China. The company still operates facilities in Wisconsin and Mississippi. But I couldn’t find out what percentage of manufacturing is carried out within the US.
As a whole, it looks like Cub Cadet’s snow blowers are a hybrid of American made and Chinese made products. There may be some of Cub Cadet’s snow blower lines that are entirely US made, but I couldn’t find any particular models during my search that are 100% American made.

Ariens
Ariens is a family-owned business that offers power equipment such as lawn mowers and snow blowers. It was founded in 1933 and the company is based in Wisconsin.
According to the company’s website, its products are designed and manufactured in Brillion, Wisconsin, and Oxford, England. As for its snow blowers, according to numerous sources, Ariens’ snow blowers are all made in the USA.
That said, according to those same sources, most of Ariens’ engines are manufactured at a facility in China. So while the outer shell of its snow blowers is made in the US, its engines seem to come from overseas.
Here’s a link to Arien’s snow blower product page for those wanting to take a look. And here’s a link to the company’s contact information in case you want to get in touch and ask for more details about its manufacturing.
