Who Makes Broyhill Furniture?

In 2019, Broyhill was purchased by the major retailer Big Lots. While it is possible to visit the Broyhill website, clicking on any product will take you straight to Big Lots’ website. So, while Broyhill does still exist, it exists under the Big Lots company name.

So Broyhill is now Big Lots. As for who manufactures Big Lots’ furniture, according to the website Query Sprout, Broyhill furniture is manufactured by an undisclosed Chinese owned company.

Unfortunately, that’s where the trail ran cold. So, it’s possible that an undisclosed Chinese owned company is responsible for manufacturing Broyhill furniture products.

Where is Broyhill Furniture Made?

After lots of research, I found multiple articles written about Broyhill’s manufacturing locations. According to a few online websites that aren’t officially affiliated with the Broyhill brand, a lot of its furniture is manufactured in Arcadia, Louisiana.

However, this information appears to be outdated. It is true that Broyhill furniture used to be manufactured in the US. However, after the company was sold to Big Lots, the evidence seems to point to its manufacturing being moved to facilities in China.

This makes sense considering it looks like Broyhill furniture is made by an unnamed Chinese owned company.

Big Lots is a company that focuses on selling overstock and clearance products from a variety of different businesses. So, naturally, Big Lots’ products come from a variety of different places.

But as for Broyhill products, it looks like they come mostly from the aforementioned Chinese company in facilities overseas.

I had a read through Big Lots’ FAQ page to try and find out more regarding where Broyhill products are made. The only thing on its website regarding product manufacturing location is a note to say that you should contact the company directly to find out more.

History of Broyhill Furniture

Broyhill was founded in the early 1900s. It began as a North Carolina based, family-owned company under the name Broyhill Furniture Industries.

Between 1930 and 1940, the owner and founder, James Broyhill purchased five factories that were hit hard by the Great Depression.

Post WWII, the economic boom in the US helped see the company bring in more than $75 million in annual sales revenue.

In 1981, Broyhill Furniture Industries was sold to Interco. Interco later became known as Furniture Brands International.
