Despite there being lots of options when it comes to clothing materials, cotton is still a very popular choice with people from all walks of life. Most people like to try and buy locally whenever possible. Because of this, I’ll be looking at cotton clothing made in the USA.
Do Any Brands Sell American Made Cotton Clothing? (The Short Answer)
After an extensive search, I found countless companies that manufacture cotton clothing in the USA. Here are 15 of them – Solid State Clothing, American Giant, Amour Vert, Back Beat Co., Blue Canoe, City Threads, Cotton Mill, Emerson Fry, General Standard, Goodwear, Grown and Sewn, Hackwith Design House, Harvest & Mill, Zkano, and Todd Shelton.
Cotton Clothing Made in the USA (What’s Out There)
Now that we know which companies offer American made cotton clothing let’s take a look at each one in a little more detail.
Solid State Clothing
Solid State Clothing is a proud American company founded in 2020. While the company was only founded in 2020, its parent company, TS Designs has been in the clothing business since the 1990s. Solid State Clothing specializes in producing quality t-shirts that are kind to the environment.
Not only are Solid State Clothing’s products made in the USA, they are made using 100% American grown cotton. Its cotton shirts are entirely made at facilities in North and South Carolina. For more on the company’s manufacturing locations, check this out.

American Giant was founded in 2011. It is well known for being a company that carries out its production within the USA. As you can see on the company’s about us page, being an American manufacturer allows the company to help bring money and work into local US communities. It also allows the owners to keep a close eye on production ensuring nothing but the best in terms of quality.
As for its manufacturing location, its headquarters is located in San Francisco, California. It looks like a decent amount of its production is carried out there. It also has facilities in Enfield, North Carolina, Gaffney, South Carolina, Clover, South Carolina, and other locations across Carolina. It may also have facilities in other states too, but none outside the US.

Amour Vert
Amour Vert was founded in 2010. It quickly became a highly sought-after brand as its clothing is stylish, environmentally responsible, and locally made. The company is based in San Francisco. As you have already seen in an entry above, San Francisco is a hub for American made clothing.
According to Apparel News, Amour Vert produces 97% of its goods in the US. It only manufactures its sweaters overseas. This claim is backed up by numerous sources. Also, according to Amour Vert, the company conducts most of its manufacturing within the US.
For those wanting to check out Amour Vert’s cotton-based clothing, here’s a link. Just be sure to avoid sweaters if you are only after American made clothing as they are mainly produced overseas.
Back Beat Co.
Back Beat Co. is a company that focuses on manufacturing ethically produced clothing for people all over the US. Back Beat Co. is very proud to be an American manufacturer and the company is always looking for new ways to be as green as possible.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this article, the website’s official about us page wasn’t working, so the information I found comes from the company’s meta description as well as a few trustworthy sources.
The company manufactures hemp and organic cotton products ethically in Los Angeles as you can see in the image below. I also found a handful of other sources that back up the company’s claim.

Blue Canoe
Blue Canoe has been manufacturing women’s clothing in the USA since it was founded in 1994. 100% of the company’s manufacturing takes place in San Francisco. Not only are its clothes American made but they are also produced using nothing but 100% organic high-quality materials.
From the beginning to the end, all of the company’s operations take place within the US. So, if you buy from Blue Canoe then you are guaranteed to receive an American made product. Here’s a link to Blue Canoe’s cotton-based products.
City Threads
City Threads is a company that produces high-quality cotton-based products for the American market. Most of City Thread’s clothing is manufactured in the USA. More specifically, it manufactures its products at a facility in Los Angeles.
City Threads does rely on some overseas production, but it is very clear about which of its products are American made. Its twill hat accessories are produced in China, other than that, all of City Threads’ clothing is produced in the USA.

Cotton Mill
Cotton Mill is a company that offers a wide array of cotton clothing for people all over the US and Canada. The company is based in Pennsylvania, and it is at this location that it produces its American made clothing.
Not all of Cotton Mill’s production is carried out in the USA. It also has a facility in Canada which handles a large amount of the company’s production. That said, its American made clothing is clearly labeled so it’s easy to see which of its clothing items are American made.

Emerson Fry
Emerson Fry is a small company that offers quality clothing for women everywhere. It works in small batches. By working in small batches, the company can focus purely on product quality and not quantity.
It’s worth noting that not all of Emerson Fry’s products are American made. Its India collection is produced in India. Aside from the India collection, it looks like all of Emerson Fry’s other products are made in the USA at the company’s facility in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be a way to filter Emerson Fry’s products by fabric. Here’s a link to its online store. You will need to read the product descriptions to find which of its products are made using cotton.
General Standard
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this article, the company’s website seemed to be undergoing some changes. Because of this, I couldn’t get any active links to its products.
The information for this one comes from the company’s official Instagram page. General Standard offers sustainably made clothing that’s all produced in the USA. I couldn’t find out exactly where the company manufactures its clothing, but it definitely takes place in the USA.

Goodwear
Goodwear has been producing quality clothing lines in the US since the 1980s. The company uses American grown cotton to produce much of its clothing. According to Goodwear’s website, by manufacturing its clothing in the US, it is able to keep its carbon footprint low by keeping its production local.
Goodwear operates manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and California. It is between these two facilities that all of Goodwear’s production takes place.

Grown and Sewn
Grown and Sewn is a small company that has been manufacturing smartly tailored garments for more than a decade. All of its products are proudly made in the USA.
The company owns and operates a showroom in New York, this is where its manufacturing takes place. It produces its product lines in small batches to ensure nothing but the best in terms of quality.

Hackwith Design House
Hackwith Design House is a small business operating out of St. Paul, Minnesota. It is very keen on keeping its production solely in the US as the owner believes that local production is the best way forward.
Each piece of Hackwith Design House clothing is made at its studio in St. Paul. Despite it being a fairly small operation, the company offers a pretty extensive range of products. From tops and pants to skirts and sweaters, Hackwith Design House really does have a lot to offer.

Harvest & Mill
Harvest & Mill was founded by Natalie Patricia in 2012. It’s a company that focuses on manufacturing organic cotton clothing that is entirely grown and sewn within the USA. According to an article written by somebody within the company, only 2% of clothing purchased in the USA is actually made in the USA. Harvest & Mill’s aim is to change that.
The company goes above and beyond when it comes to its sustainability. Each one of its products can be traced back to its origin within the US. On top of that, the company is carbon-neutral and vegan.

Zkano
Unlike most of the other entries on this list, Zkano doesn’t manufacture all types of clothing. Instead, it specializes in manufacturing quality cotton socks. The company was founded in 2009 and since its inception, it has been manufacturing all of its products in the USA.
Zkano operates a manufacturing facility in Fort Payne, Alabama. This is where all of its socks are produced as you can see in the image below.

Todd Shelton
Todd Shelton is an American founded company that offers various quality clothing products. It manufactures a variety of clothing options from jeans to shorts and everything in between. Something that sets this company apart from many other American clothing companies is the fact that its clothes are made to measure, so you are guaranteed to receive clothing that fits you perfectly.
Being an American manufacturer is something that Todd Shelton takes very seriously. All of its manufacturing takes place at a facility located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
