Who Makes Champion Snow Blowers? (+ Where)

Champion is a market leader in power generation equipment. They produce an extensive range of products that include generators, engines, winches, log splitters, snow blowers, tillers, and water pumps. These products are geared toward both home and professional use. They also have a large range of accessories from power cords to wheel kits.

Their snow blowers and other products can be bought from most of the big retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and The Home Depot.

But, who makes Champion snow blowers and where are they made? After some research, you can read about what I found out.

Who Makes Champion Snow Blowers?

Champion snow blowers are distributed by a company called Champion Power Equipment. According to their website, they design and produce their own equipment. So, it would appear that Champion is an all-American manufacturer and distributor of their own products. The website states “that the products are designed and engineered for the North American and world markets”.

However, that being said, I found an article that mentions a Chinese company, Zomax, as a possible manufacturer. After further investigation, I came across a document (unfortunately it is no longer accessible online) that listed Zomax as one of Champion’s OE applications manufacturers. But, I can’t tell for sure which parts they make. And this is all that I was able to find in terms of who actually makes parts for these snow blowers.

Where Are Champion Snow Blowers Made?

The company headquarters were initially located in California and have expanded to include facilities in Toronto Canada, Milwaukee Wisconsin, and Jackson Tennessee.

Looking at the FAQs for some of their snow blowers on Amazon, many people ask where the snow blowers are made. The majority of the answers state that they are made in the USA. A couple of answers state China, but don’t provide any additional information.

To dig a little deeper and get more clarity, I contacted the Live Chat on their website and got a fast response. I take this as a good sign of their support, as so many companies simply never respond to live chats.

A very helpful chat operator told me the following –

Champion Power Equipment (CPE) is a US-owned and operated company. All of our products are designed and engineered at our R&D facility in Milwaukee, WI, with assembly performed in China to our exact specifications. In June of 2020, CPE opened its first assembly plant in Jackson, TN, USA. Our commitment to stimulating local job growth remains strong. We employ many Americans at our headquarters, three distribution centers, and our engineering firm, which are all located in the USA”.

So it seems that most assembly is currently done in China (although with the opening of the new assembly plant in Jackson, Tennessee, that may be changing), but all of the design and engineering work is done in the USA. This is a fairly common setup for many companies.

The address of their US headquarters is:

12039 Smith Avenue, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670

The Wisconsin Office is located at:

W245N5551 S. Corporate Circle, Sussex, WI 53089

I did a bit of research and found that the company was formed in 2003. Two key people are named – Dennis M Trine is the President and Lei Zhao is a Director. According to LinkedIn they currently have around 50 employees.

There’s not much else that I could find in terms of the company history. If you happen to know more about the brand evolution, feel free to comment below and I’ll add the information to the article.
