An estimated 85% of American households have a washing machine. With there being such a high demand for washing machines, it’s easy to see why some companies are opting to move their manufacturing abroad to reduce costs and increase production. However, this can sometimes negatively impact product quality. In this article, I’ll be looking at high-quality washing machines made in the US.
Which Brands Sell Washing Machines Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
After doing some research, I was able to find 4 brands that manufacture washing machines in the US. They are Whirlpool, Speed Queen, General Electric (GE), and Amana Corporation.

Whirlpool:
Whirlpool was founded in 1911 in the state of Michigan. It is a well-known company that has 54 manufacturing and technology research centers located all over the world. The company’s headquarters is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Whirlpool’s main washing machine manufacturing centers are located in Greenville, Ohio, and Fall River, Massachusetts.
According to a question asked on Best Buy and answered by Whirlpool, 80% of Whirlpool corporation’s appliances are made and sold in the US, although Whirlpool’s parts come from various centers located all over the world. This was on a post regarding dehumidifiers. However, the message clearly states that 80% refers to all appliances made by Whirlpool.
As for Whirlpool’s washing machines, it seems like some of them used to be manufactured in China. However, due to some safety concerns, the company switched back to manufacturing its washing machines mostly in the US.
However, I also came across an article on Whirlpool’s website stating that the company has recently opened up a new manufacturing facility in Argentina. This facility will also be producing some of Whirlpool’s washing machines. At the time of writing this article, it is unclear what percentage of Whirlpool’s washing machines are being made at the facility in Argentina.

The Speed Queen brand is no stranger to awards and accolades. It has received numerous awards for its high-quality and reliable washing machines. This includes being named America’s Most Recommended Luxury Washer and Drier Brand 8 years in a row.
As mentioned, Speed Queen manufactures all of its products in the US. Its manufacturing facility is located in the same place as the company’s headquarters.

General Electric
General Electric was founded in 1905 in Schenectady, New York. It is an internationally recognized brand that manufactures a wide range of household appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, and washing machines.
With it being such a large company, it has many different manufacturing facilities located in various countries. However, from what I could find, General Electric’s washing machines are primarily manufactured at the company’s largest facility in Louisville, Kentucky.

Finishing off this list we have Amana Corp. Now some readers may already know that Amana Corp’s washing machines are made by Whirlpool. However, since the company produces products under the Amana Corp name, it gets its own entry.
Amana Corp was founded in 1934 in Middle Amana, Iowa. The company manufactures a fairly extensive range of household appliances, and this includes washing machines.
According to a few different sources, Amana Corp’s products are manufactured at a facility located in Amana, Iowa.
