Brands that Sell Sunglasses Made in Germany? (The Short Answer)

After doing some research, it turns out that there are actually a few options when it comes to German-made sunglasses, 6 to be exact. Your options are Cazal, Funk Eyewear, Haffmans & Neumeister, Herrlicht, iC! Berlin, and Klenze & Baum.

German Made Sunglasses (Here’s a List of What I Found)

Let’s take a deep dive into each company and learn a little more about them.

Cazal

Cazal was founded in 1979 by an Austrian eyewear designer. Despite being from Austria, its products are all made in Germany. It is one of the most well-known eyewear brands on the planet and its products have been worn by famous people like Brad Pitt, Jay-Z, and Lady Gaga.

As mentioned, Cazal manufactures its products in Germany. Its facility is located in Bavaria, and it manufactures its products using only the highest quality materials like premium titanium and other high-end metals. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find where it gets its materials from, only the fact that its manufacturing is carried out in Germany.

Cazal has lots of options when it comes to sunglasses. Also, its catalog is constantly being updated with new pieces. So, instead of putting the link for one or two of its products below, I’ll put a link to all three of its categories of sunglasses.

Funk Eyewear

Funk Eyewear was founded in 1992 in Munich, but it has since moved its headquarters to the village of Kinsau, Germany. The company is made up of two brands, they are Sashee and Dieter Funk. All of the sunglasses for both of those brands are made at the company’s facility in Kinsau.

That said, on the website’s homepage, after stating how it manufactures its products in Upper Bavaria, Germany, it says that it owns stores in various places, this includes one in Vienna. I feel like it is safe to assume that by stores it doesn’t mean that it manufactures products at these locations, just that it sells products there, but I felt it was best to put this in to prevent confusion. Haffmans & Neumeister

Haffmans & Neumeister has been in the glasses manufacturing business for over two decades. The company’s products are made using a type of flat metal, this is unconventional yet it makes the glasses easier to make and it gives them a unique uniform flow.

The company’s products are all designed and manufactured at its facility located in Berlin. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out much regarding where it sources its materials other than the fact that it uses sustainable materials for making its products.

Haffmans & Neumeister has plenty of choices when it comes to sunglasses. Here’s a link to its sunglasses product range. For those wanting to have a few options laid out, I’ve got you covered. Here are a few of the company’s sunglasses for you to check out.

Herrlicht (Sometimes)

Herrlicht was founded by well-known designer Andreas Licht back in 2004. The idea behind the company was to make frames using 100% wood materials, fast forward to today and the company’s wood glasses are highly sought after by people all over the world.

The only thing that could be considered a downside with Herrlicht is the fact that these glasses can be pretty hard to get, as the company only produces 99 pairs of glasses in each of its sets. This is because Harllicht really wants to ensure that all of its products are made to an incredibly high standard and so, making its glasses in smaller batches allows the company to focus on quality over quantity.

As for its manufacturing, All of Herrlicht’s products are made at its workshop located in Erfurt, Germany. That said, its wood comes from all around Europe as well as North America.

For those wanting to have a look at some of Herricht’s products. Since Herrlicht only produces 99 pairs of each set of glasses, its products are changing regularly. This is also true for its sunglasses, from what I was able to find, Herrlicht doesn’t always have sunglasses available for purchase.

From what I understand, its collection is always changing and therefore it doesn’t always have sunglasses in store, so here’s a link to its collection page.

Ic! Berlin

Ic! Berlin was founded in 1996. It is a high-quality eyewear manufacturer and it has offices dotted in countries all over the world. With it being such a far-reaching company, you’d assume that it conducts its manufacturing across multiple facilities in various countries. But this isn’t the case.

Each pair of ic! Berlin’s glasses are all made at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Berlin. However, I wasn’t able to find where the company gets its materials from.

Ic! Berlin’s approach to glasses is slightly different from many other companies out there. The company makes use of no-screw hinges for its products. This removes the risk of screws coming loose or falling off which in turn, creates a better customer experience.

Here are a few of ic! Berlin’s sunglasses for you to take a look at.

Klenze & Baum

Klenze & Baum is a fairly new company, but already it is making waves in the sunglasses industry thanks to its pretty unique approach to manufacturing. Its glasses are 3D-printed. On top of that, the metal arms on each pair of glasses can be moved to fit the wearer’s face, so no more glasses sliding off your head!

The company conducts its manufacturing in Germany. Its facility is located on the corner of Baumstrasse, a German town. Since it conducts all of its manufacturing in one location using 3D printers, its carbon footprint is considerably lower than many other sunglasses companies out there.

Honorable Mention

I found a brand that I couldn’t definitively prove whether its products are made in Germany. So, it gets an honorable mention and you can take a look and see what you think.

Coblens

Coblens has been designing and manufacturing eyewear since 1999. It is a German company and its headquarters is located in Koblenz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. This company is well known for its high-quality titanium framed eyewear and it sells its products to people all over the world.

This company didn’t quite make it onto the list above because I couldn’t find concrete proof of it being a German manufacturer. I did find a handful of third-party sites that have Coblens down as a German manufacturer, but as we all know, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet!

On Coblen’s official website, it states that its products are “designed in Germany. Excellently manufactured in titanium & bio-acetate.“ These are two different sentences, it doesn’t mean that its products are made in Germany, just that they are designed in Germany.
