Germany is a country that is known for producing high-quality tools. It is the birthplace of companies like Bosch, Ronix, and Fein. But, over the years, as more companies turn to China for manufacturing, it has become increasingly difficult to find German-made tools. In this article, I’ll be looking at screwdrivers made in Germany.
Are There Any Screwdrivers Made in Germany? (The Short Answer)
I found 3 brands that offer German-made screwdrivers. They are Wiha, Felo, and GEDORE.
German Screwdriver Brands (Here’s What I Found)
Let’s take a closer look at each of the German screwdriver manufacturers.
Wiha
Wiha was founded in 1939, it is a German company and its main headquarters is located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is a hand tool manufacturer that sells products to happy customers all over the world.
With it being such a large company, it will come as no surprise to learn that Wiha doesn’t manufacture all of its products in Germany. The company has a facility in the Czech Republic, and it may also have facilities in other locations, although I couldn’t find much proof of this.
As far as screwdrivers go, Wiha manufactures lots of them. From what I understand, not all of Wiha’s screwdrivers are made in Germany. However, there is a very easy way to tell which of its screwdrivers are German-made. In the product description of each screwdriver, it states if it was made in German or not.
Since the company offers such a wide range of screwdrivers, instead of linking to a couple of Wiha’s products below, here’s a link to its screwdriver product page. I’ve added an image below showing where the product description is for each product so you can find out for yourselves which of its screwdrivers are German-made.
Felo
Felo is a proud German company that dates back to 1887 when its first facility was opened in Hammermühle, Germany. It started by forging various tools, fast forward to today and the company has grown and mastered the art of producing high-quality hand tools.
As for its manufacturing location, according to its website, its tools have been made in Germany throughout the company’s history. While its tools used to be manufactured at its facility in Hammermühle, it moved to a facility in Neustadt, Germany. It looks like this is where all of its screwdrivers are made.
Felo has plenty of options when it comes to screwdrivers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it is possible to purchase directly from the Felo website. However, the Felo USA website offers the ability to purchase directly from the website. Here’s a link to Felo USA’s screwdriver collection.
GEDORE
GEDORE was founded in 1919 in the town of Remischeid. The company was started by two brothers who set up a small forge in their hometown. Before long, GEDORE grew and expanded and it now operates in various countries worldwide.
Not all of GEDORE’s products are made in Germany. The company also has manufacturing facilities in Brazil, England, Austria, and South Africa. This made things a little tricky when it came to finding out which products are made where.
After doing a little bit of digging, I came across one line of screwdrivers that looks like it is made in Germany. That line is the GEODORE Racher Screwdriver Silent GEAR. By scrolling down the page in the link attached, it clearly states that this particular line is made in Germany.
Screwdrivers That Are Mistaken as Being Made in Germany
I came across one company that people seem to confuse as being a German manufacturer. I encountered several third-party sites and an Amazon listing stating that this particular brand manufactures its screwdrivers in Germany. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Wera
Wera is a German company that was founded in 1936. While it is true that the company conducts some of its manufacturing in Germany, this isn’t the case for all of its products. From my research, Wera’s German-made products are primarily its hammers.
As far as its screwdrivers go, they are made in the Czech Republic. I got this information by downloading and reading through the datasheet for the company’s screwdrivers. Each one clearly states that it is made in the Czech Republic.
