Almost every household owns at least one microwave. They are by far one of the most popular kitchen appliances out there. But, with so many companies opting to conduct their manufacturing overseas, it is becoming rather difficult to find a microwave made outside of China. In this article, I’ll be looking for microwaves made in Japan.

Are There Any Brands That Offer Microwaves Made in Japan? (The Short Answer)

After doing plenty of research, I couldn’t find a single brand that definitely manufactures Microwaves in Japan. However, I did find one that might make some of its microwaves in Japan. That brand is Panasonic.

Japanese Made Microwaves (My Findings)

Let’s take a look into what I found about Panasoinc’s manufacturing locations.

Panasonic

Panasonic was founded in 1918 in Osaka, Japan. It is one of the most famous electrical brands on the planet. Almost every household across the US has at least one product from Panasonic, whether it’s a TV, microwave, batteries, or any of its other many many products.

Panasonic conducts a large portion of its manufacturing in China. However, it looks like that may be changing. According to several online articles, Panasonic is trying to bring some of its manufacturing back to Japan.

By looking at Panasonic’s official website, you can see a layout of where it has all of its manufacturing facilities. At the time of writing this article, the company has 27 production facilities in Japan, which is significantly more than it has in China.

I did also find a handful of listings for Panasonic microwaves made in Japan. Unfortunately, these listings were on third-party sites so it wasn’t possible to verify whether the claims made on them are true.

Unfortunately, Panasonic doesn’t state where it manufactures its microwaves on its website. As a whole, it looks like it does carry out some of its manufacturing in Japan, but I couldn’t find any way to prove this. If there are any readers out there who know more about Panasonic’s manufacturing then leave a comment below as we like to keep our articles up-to-date and accurate.

Microwaves that Are Commonly Mistaken as Being Made in Japan

I found one company that very clearly states that it manufactures its microwaves in the USA, yet I also found a couple of third-party sites stating that the company manufactures products in Japan. Here’s what I found.

Sharp

Sharp is a well-known electrical brand that was founded in Tokyo in 1912. It manufactures a wide range of electrical appliances, from TVs and mobile phones to air purifiers and microwaves.

While the company’s headquarters is based in Japan, as mentioned above, Sharp manufactures a lot of its microwaves across three facilities in the USA. It may also manufacture microwaves in other countries, but its US-based ones seem to be its largest ones.

After looking at the third-party sites stating that Sharp’s microwaves are made in Japan in more detail, it looks like they are confusing its headquarters as its main manufacturing facility. I could find no concrete evidence suggesting that any of Sharp’s microwaves are made in Japan.
