When the weather is hot there’s nothing quite like a drink loaded with ice to help keep you cool. Each year, more and more people across America are buying their own ice makers. But what most people don’t know is where their ice maker is manufactured. In this article, I’ll be looking at ice makers made in America.
Which Brands Sell Ice Makers Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
After doing some digging around, I was able to find 6 brands that produce American made ice makers. They are Follett, Ice-O-Matic, Marvel, Scotsman, Hoshizaki America, and Manitowoc.
American Made Ice Makers (6 Brands to Look At)
Now that we know which brands manufacture ice makers in America, let’s take a closer look at each company.
Follett was founded in 1948. It is a company that focuses on manufacturing high-quality ice and water machines. The company’s products range from equipment used in the medical industry all the way to standard consumer machines.
Follett’s manufacturing takes place at its 225,000-square-foot plant which is located in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. This is the location of both its manufacturing facility and its headquarters.
As mentioned, Follett produces ice and water-based products across a wide range of sectors. Here’s a link to some of Follett’s smaller ice maker models.
Ice-O-Matic has been going strong since 1952. It is an American founded company that prides itself in being an American ice machine manufacturer. Ice-O-Matic supplies ice machines to people and businesses all over the world, its products are well known for being high-quality machines that are built to last.
Ice-O-Matic works hard to be as eco-friendly as possible. The company uses recycled materials, minimizes water usage, and much more. For more on Ice-O-Matic’s green initiatives, check this out.
According to Ice-O-Matic’s website, 98% of the company’s products are made at its facility in Denver, Colorado.
As for the company’s products, Ice-O-Matic manufactures a wide range of ice machines across a lot of different sectors. Here is a link to the company’s product page. I was also able to find one smaller ice maker device that may be useful for people looking for an ice maker for standard consumer use. That model is the GEMD 270-Pearl Ice/Water Dispenser.
The company focuses solely on producing products for chilling and ice purposes. Since the company has been in business for so long, it’s safe to say that the company knows its way around ice makers.
Whilst the company primarily aims its products toward businesses, it also has a handful of products that are fit for regular consumer use. These include the following.
- 15 In Built-In Clear Ice Machine With Factory MLCP215
- 14 In Low Profile Compact Crescent Ice Machine
- 15 In Built-In Crescent Ice Machine
Scotsman was founded in the 1950s. It has always been a company that is dedicated to providing high-quality and affordable ice machines and other ice-related products. The company has sold its products to more than 100 countries worldwide, making it a very well-known company.
According to Scotsman’s company website, its manufacturing takes place at its award-winning factory located in South Carolina. This makes it one of only a handful of American ice makers that manufactures 100% of its products in the US.
The Scotsman brand produces ice makers for regular consumer use. Here is a link to the company’s ice maker products.
Hoshizaki America was founded in California back in 1981. It is a company that produces refrigerators, ice dispensers, and ice makers.
From the information I was able to gather, the company’s manufacturing mainly takes place in its US-based manufacturing facilities. However, this is only true for Hoshizaki America. It looks like Hoshizaki has multiple branches across countries throughout the world.
So, it’s worth checking with the manufacturer before committing to a purchase just to make sure that the product you are buying is one that was made by the American version of Hoshizaki.
The company primarily focuses on manufacturing products for businesses. However, some of its smaller models would also work for home use too. The company has a very extensive range of ice makers, so instead of listing them all below, here’s a link to the company’s ice maker product page.
Finishing off this section we have Manitowoc. You may have noticed that this has a little ‘possibly’ flag next to the title. That’s because not all of the company’s manufacturing takes place in the US.
I came across a handful of angry reviews stating that some of the company’s American made products weren’t actually made in America. Having said that, according to Manitowoc’s website, it produces ice makers in Mexico, China, and the US.
This makes it difficult to pinpoint with absolute certainty which of its products is made in the US. So, check with the manufacturer before committing to a purchase to ensure that the model you buy was made in the US. Here’s a link to the company’s product page for those who want to take a closer look.
