Brands that Make Hiking Boots in Canada? (The Short Answer)

In my search for Canadian-made hiking boots, I came across 4 brands that manufacture boots in Canada that could be used for hiking purposes. They are Kamik, Royer, Anfibio and Saute-Mouton.

Hiking Boots Made in Canada (Here’s What I Found)

Now that we have our Canadian hiking boot brands, let’s take a look at each company in a little more detail.

Kamik

Kamik is a Canadian footwear company that was founded in 1898. Its headquarters is located in Lachine, Quebec, Canada. Kamik is well known for its high-quality footwear. Its shoes and boots are designed to withstand the most extreme elements while keeping your feet dry and warm.

I wasn’t able to find out that much about the company’s specific manufacturing facilities. However, according to its website, its products are made in Canada using materials from both inside and outside of Canada.

So, whilst it is a Canadian manufacturer, it also gets some of its materials from abroad. But this is pretty standard for lots of companies, so it still makes it on the list. That said, its rain boots (wellington boots) are manufactured in facilities dotted around the US.

As for its hiking boots. It has a fairly extensive selection available, this includes the following.

Royer

Royer is a Canadian brand that produces shoes and boots that are specially designed to be used in some of the most hostile weather conditions imaginable. The company was founded in 1934, it was founded in Canada and it has remained in Canada to this day.

Royer is a proud Canadian manufacturer and it manufactures all of its boots in Canada. But just like the previous entry on this list, it does source some of its materials from other countries.

Most of Royer’s boots are labeled as work boots. However, they are also perfect for hiking and mountaineering. If you’d like to take a look at some of Royer’s Canadian-made boots, then here’s a link to the company’s product page.

Anfibio

Anfibio has been manufacturing hand-crafted footwear in Canada since it was founded in 1968. These days, Anfibio is an internationally recognized brand that sells its products to people all over the world.

Despite growing in popularity, Anfibio continues to manufacture all of its boots in Canada. From what I was able to find, its manufacturing takes place at a large facility located in Montreal, Quebec.

Anfibio’s boots are designed for the great outdoors. They are warm, durable, and most importantly, comfortable. Its hiking boots include the following.

Saute-Mouton

Saute-Mouton was founded in 1998. It is a fairly small operation with a little over 30 members of staff. But being a relatively small company doesn’t mean that it doesn’t manufacture high-quality products. Saute-Mouton’s footwear is very sought after as its boots are extremely well made and they last a very long time.

Its boots are made for both casual and outdoor use, which makes Saute-Mouton’s boots an excellent choice for hiking. They are designed to be comfortable and they offer a great deal of protection against the elements.

Saute-Mouton has a wide range of boots, each of which is made at its facility located in Rue De L’Argon, Quebec, Canada. It offers shoes and boots for men and women.

A Note For The Readers

A kind reader reached out to us with some more companies that produce footwear in Canada. While not explicitly hiking boots, some of them can be used for some low-intensity hiking. Here are links to each company that was suggested by the reader.

Honorable Mention

I came across one brand that looked like a Canadian manufacturer, however, upon closer inspection, it wasn’t as straightforward as I initially thought. Here’s what I found.

Pajar

First off, the misinformation is not coming from Pajar, but from third-party articles. Pajer is clear regarding its manufacturing locations. While Pajar used to manufacture the majority of its products in Canada, over the years the company has moved the majority of its manufacturing overseas.

At the time of writing this article, Pajar manufactures the majority of its products in factories located in China, Italy, Portugal, and Asia. The company still manufactures some products in Canada, but I wasn’t able to determine exactly which of its products are Canadian-made, hence the honorable mention.

  1. Those are more winter boots or work boots. At that point you may as well consider, boulet and canada west who have small boots with Vibram aggressive soles, Dayto service boots and Viberg hiking shoes (quite expensive for the last 2).

    • Hi Guy, thank you for your comment. Finding hiking boots made in Canada turned out to be quite the challenge. Most of the shoes we could find are more like winter boots and work boots as you mentioned. We selected ones that can also double up as hiking boots for those wanting some form of Canadian outdoor boots.

Thank you for your suggestions. We will make a note on the article based on your comment. Thanks again.
