Canada is known for many things. But when listing things we all know about Canada, greenhouse production probably won’t be on it! So, are there any companies that manufacture greenhouses in Canada? Well, that’s what I’ll be looking at in this article.
Are There Any Canadian Made Greenhouses Out There? (The Short Answer)
After lots of research into Canadian greenhouse manufacturers, I found 4 companies that produce them. They are Lexis Greenhouses, Sunpod Greenhouses, Backyard Greenhouses, and BW Greenhouse.
Greenhouses Made in Canada (Here’s What I Found)
Now that we know which companies offer Canadian-made greenhouses let’s look at each one in a little more detail.
Lexis Greenhouses
Lexis Greenhouses is a greenhouse manufacturer that has been manufacturing its products in Canada since 1951. The company’s experience has helped it to become one of Canada’s most well-known and trusted greenhouse manufacturers.
Something that makes Lexis Greenhouses stand out from other companies is the fact that its greenhouses are made to withstand Canada’s harsh weather. Needless to say, a greenhouse that can survive through Canadian weather is very sturdy.
As for its manufacturing location, the company operated a facility in Ottawa, Ontario. From what I understand, it looks like this is where all of its greenhouses are produced.

Sunpod Greenhouses
Sunpod Greenhouses specializes in producing eco-friendly greenhouses using locally sourced sustainable materials. Its greenhouses are visually appealing, and practical, and some of its models are movable thanks to their lightweight production meaning that they can be easily moved around the garden to suit your needs.
The company’s greenhouses are made in Vancouver by locals. It also makes use of locally sourced western red cedar to manufacture its greenhouses. Each greenhouse is built to last through several seasons according to the company’s website.

Backyard Greenhouses
Backyard Greenhouses was founded in 1972. Over the years it has grown and expanded its product lines to include some of the best greenhouses on the Canadian market. Despite growing over the years, it is still a proud Canadian manufacturer.
There wasn’t a whole lot of information out there regarding its production. That is with the exception of one repeated statement on its website, “Made in Canada”. According to Backyard Greenhouses’ official site, all of its greenhouses are made in Canada.
The company does operate a facility in Windsor, Ontario. I would assume that this is where it manufactures its products. Here’s a link to some of Backyard Greenhouses’ most popular greenhouses. It is worth noting that the website seems fairly old and not particularly user-friendly. It may be best just to give them a call, the company’s phone number is in the link above.
BW Greenhouse
BW Greenhouse is by far the largest company on this list. It was founded in 1980 and it is Western Canada’s largest manufacturer of greenhouses and greenhouse components. It offers everything from large industrial greenhouses all the way down to small hobby greenhouses.
According to its official website, BW Greenhouse’s products are manufactured in Canada using Gatorshield steel. I couldn’t find out where exactly it produces its greenhouses with 100% certainty. However, I did find an address tied to the company that could be its manufacturing facility. It is in Abbotsford, Colombia.
If you are reading this article, then I feel like it’s safe to assume that you are looking for a greenhouse for regular consumer use and not an enormous industrial greenhouse complex! Greenhouses That Are Often Mistaken as Being Made in Canada
I came across one company that was listed on several third-party websites as being a Canadian manufacturer. However, according to the company itself, this isn’t the case. Here’s what I found.
Planta Greenhouses
Planta Greenhouses is a well-known greenhouse manufacturer in the US and Canada. Its headquarters is located in Mississauga, Ontario and it specializes in producing greenhouse kits that can be assembled quickly and easily.
Initially, I thought that this company produces its greenhouses in Canada. However, that’s not the case. As mentioned above, several third-party articles out there have Planta Greenhouses listed as a Canadian manufacturer. But according to the company’s official website, its greenhouse kits are manufactured in Europe.
Perhaps the third-party sites have mistaken Planta Greenhouses’ headquarters for its manufacturing location, but I can’t be certain. However, it is important to note that none of the third-party sites that have the company listed as a Canadian manufacturer seem to have any affiliation with Planta Greenhouses.
