With people looking for more energy-efficient ways to get around, electric bikes have grown in popularity over the past few years. On the topic of being energy efficient, electric bikes that are mass-produced overseas and then shipped off all around the world to be sold aren’t exactly green! In this article, I’ll be looking for electric bikes made in the UK.
Brands That Offer Electric Bikes Made in the UK? (The Short Answer)
You would have thought that finding electric bike manufacturers in the UK would be difficult, and you’d be right! I was only able to find 1 brand that definitely manufactures e-bikes in the UK. That brand is Volt Bikes.
British Made Electric Bikes (Here’s What I Found)

Before getting into this entry, it is worth pointing out that there is another company out there that goes by the name Volt Bike, this is not the same as Volt Bikes. So, if you see a company called Volt Bike (with no S on the end,) then don’t confuse the two!
Volt Bikes is an award-winning electric bike manufacturer based in Milton Keynes, England. The company was founded back in 2010 and despite being a relatively young company, it has become a major player in the e-bike world.
The company proudly sells thousands of products to people all over the UK and the US. It currently offers 12 different e-bike models, from hybrid bikes to folding bikes and more.
As for its manufacturing, the company proudly designs and makes its bikes in the UK. Volt Bikes’ manufacturing facility is located in Milton Keynes, from what I was able to find, it all happens at this one location.
As mentioned above, Volt Bikes is an award-winning company, having accumulated a number of accolades over its tenure. This includes being the recipient of a Red Dot Product Design Award in 2022.

Honorable Mention
I came across one company that might manufacture some of its electric bikes in the UK. However, I couldn’t find any concrete proof. It is also worth noting that it looks like at least some of Emu Bikes’ components come from overseas, so while it may conduct some manufacturing in the UK, some parts are sourced from elsewhere.

Emu Bikes
Founded in 2014, Emu Bikes is well-known for producing high-quality electric bikes. According to the company website, Emu Bikes offers exceptional quality whilst also giving customers exceptional value for money.
As mentioned above, I couldn’t find out exactly where its manufacturing takes place. The company is based in London and according to its about us page, its bikes are designed and made by some of the best electric bike specialists in the UK and Europe.
After doing a little more digging, it looks like the company uses Tektro brakes and Samsung batteries on some of its products, these items are not made in the UK. They are in fact made in China, Taiwan, Japan, and a couple of other countries. So the only thing I know for certain is that some of its components come from overseas.

Electric Bikes That Are Commonly Mistaken as Being Made in the UK
I found one company that very clearly states that it manufactures its products overseas, yet there are a couple of third-party sites that reference it as being a British e-bike manufacturer. Here’s what I found.
Woosh Bikes
Woosh Bikes is an electric bike company based in Essex. Now, as most readers will already know, based in doesn’t mean made in. Woosh Bikes very clearly states that its products are primarily made in China.
Despite this information being very clear, I saw a couple of third-party articles stating that this company manufactures its products in the UK.
