Dryers Made in the USA – Which Companies Sell Them? (The Short Answer)

I came across a few companies that manufacture dryers in the USA. They are Maytag, Whirlpool,  Amana, Speed Queen, and GE Electric.

American-Made Dryers (Look At These Brands)

Now that we know which brands produce American-made dryers let’s look at each company in a little more detail.

Maytag

Maytag was founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa. It’s become a well-known brand that produces high-quality and affordable household appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers.

In 2006, Maytag became part of the Whirlpool corporation. So while the company is technically owned by Whirlpool, since Maytag’s dryers go under the Maytag name, it gets its own entry.

Being such a large company, Maytag has manufacturing facilities in countries all around the world. But as for its dryers, the Whirlpool corporation has a large manufacturing facility located in Fall River, Massachusetts, dedicated to producing washing machines and dryers. So it looks like a lot of Maytag’s dryers may come from this facility.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out which of its models are produced here, so I’d highly recommend contacting the friendly staff over at Maytag to find out which models are produced at this facility.

I also came across a source stating that Maytag manufactures a few of its dryers at three manufacturing facilities located in Clyde, Greenville, and Marion. All three of these places are in the state of Ohio. However, I wasn’t able to verify which of Maytag’s products are made at these facilities.

For those wanting to take a look at some of Maytag’s dryers, here’s a link to the company’s dryer product page.

Whirlpool

Having mentioned Whirlpool in the previous entry, I’m sure that most readers would have guessed that Whirlpool manufactures a lot of its products in the US. Just like with the entry above, Whirlpool gets a separate mention because it manufactures products under the Whirlpool name.

Whirlpool was founded in Benton Harbor, Michigan, back in 1911. Over the years, it has grown to become America’s largest owned and operated appliance company. It has also recently picked up the title of the world’s largest home appliance company, so it’s safe to say that the folks over at Whirlpool know their way around home appliances.

With it being the largest home appliance company on earth, it almost goes without saying that Whirlpool has picked up countless awards and accolades over the years. This includes Manufacturing Leadership Awards, Best Dryer Awards, Twice VIP Awards, and lots more.

An impressive 80% of Whirlpool’s products are manufactured in the US. This information came directly from a Whirlpool representative, so it’s definitely a source that can be trusted.

As for its American-made dryers, the website doesn’t actually state which of its products are made in the US. From what I could find, it seems like the majority of Whirlpool’s dryers are made in the US, but it’s definitely worth contacting the live chat team on the company’s website for more clarity. Here’s a link to the company’s dryer page.

Amana

Amana was founded in 1934 in Middle Amana, Iowa. Like Maytag, Amana is a part of the Whirlpool corporation, but since it manufactures products under the Amana brand, it gets its own entry.

The company’s headquarters is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and it’s well known for its high-quality kitchen and laundry appliances.

Amana’s manufacturing seems to take place across three main locations. One facility is located in Houston, Texas, another is located in Ohio, and the other manufacturing facility is one of Whirlpool’s factories located in Iowa.

So for the most part, it looks like Amana’s dryers are produced in the US. This information comes from the three sources linked above as well as multiple entries on the popular site ProductFrom.

So all of this information seems pretty reliable. Here’s a link to the company’s dryer product page. If you’d like any more information about a particular dryer model, then I’d recommend reaching out to the company as its friendly staff are always happy to help answer any questions.

Speed Queen

Speed Queen is a truly American company. It was founded in 1908 in Ripton, Wisconsin. The company has expanded over the years, it also became a subsidiary of Alliance Laundry Systems LLC. However, despite the changes that the company has undergone, it still manufactures its dryers in Ripton.

Speed Queen is a very popular brand. This is easy to see as the company has won many awards for its high-quality laundry products. This includes being named America’s Most Recommended Luxury Washer and Dryer Brand by the Women’s Choice Awards six years in a row.

For those wanting to take a look at some of Speed Queen’s dryers, here are a few of its products. Keep in mind that each one is produced in the USA.

GE Electric

Finishing off this list we have GE Electric. GE Electric was founded in 1892 in Schenectady, New York. It is a multinational conglomerate that is recognized all over the world for its high-quality products across numerous different sectors.

With it being such a large company, it won’t come as a surprise that it has facilities dotted all over the world. That being said, almost all of its dryers are manufactured in the US.

While GE Electric does manufacture a lot of its products in the US, as mentioned, it also has facilities located in other countries. I found multiple sources like the one in the image above stating that GE Electric manufactures dryers in the US. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out which of its models are made in America.

It seems like almost all of its dryers are made in the US, but I’d recommend double-checking with GE before committing to a purchase. Here’s a link to the company’s dryer page.
