Are There Any American-Made Dog Treats Out There? (The Short Answer)
Upon doing plenty of research, I was able to find 10 companies that manufacture dog treats made in the USA. They are Milk-Bone, Full Moon, Volhard Dog Nutrition, Purina, Beg And Barker, Blue Buffalo, Nudges, Merrick, Old Mother Hubbard, Best Bully Sticks, Zukes, and Greenies.
Dog Treats Made in the USA (Here’s What I Found)
Now that we have our brands, let’s look at each company in more detail.
Milk-Bone Dog Biscuits
Milk-Bone Dog Biscuits were created in 1908 by the F.H. Bennett Biscuit Company, which operated a bakery on the Lower East Side of New York City. Since 1957 its headquarters have been located in Buffalo, NY. In 2008, it celebrated 100 years in business.
Its biscuit was originally named “Maltoid” because it was a bone-shaped treat made from minerals, meat products, and milk. It has a wide variety of treats for snacking, tasty ones for health and wellness, and even ones that are long-lasting.
In 2015 it was acquired by The J.M. Smucker Company. It manufactures most of its dog biscuits here in the USA.
However, its brand of GnawBones is manufactured in China. This is due to the fact that certain manufacturing processes are not suitable within the USA.
In 2019 the manufacturing facility achieved gold-level TRUE Zero Waste Certification.

Full Moon
Full Moon was established in 2011 by founder and dog dad Ryan Perdue. Its current headquarters are located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Its treats look and smell like human food because it is actually human food. Volhard Dog Nutrition is owned by Brian and Lisa Berg. It is located at a twenty-four-acre world-class canine training facility in Marlton, NJ.

Beg And Barker
Beg and Barker was founded by Gary Moorcroft, a fourth-generation meat trader from South Africa. Gary brought his South African traditions to the United States and opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Goldsboro, North Carolina to create air-dried meat snacks for people and their pets.
All its products are made in small batches and air-dried. It uses an air-drying method to preserve its meat to retain nutrients and flavor with no need for added fillers. Its products contain no artificial preservatives.
It stands by every treat 100%, no matter what. If you have a problem, it promises to fix it in any way it can and will arrange for a replacement or refund if you are not completely satisfied.

Blue Buffalo was started in 2003 by Bill Bishop and his sons. The family was searching for the best pet food possible for their dog, Blue, who was quite sick. Unable to find a natural option with high-quality ingredients, they created their own dog food and began to feed it to Blue.
Its products are made in one of its two manufacturing facilities using only high-quality natural ingredients with real meat.
Its products do not contain any corn, wheat, soy, or poultry by-product meals. Its team of veterinarians and animal nutritionists carefully selects only the highest quality natural ingredients for every recipe it makes.
In 2018, Blue Buffalo was acquired by General Mills. General Mills does manufacture and engage in business in China. However, it looks like the company still manufactures some of its dog treats in the USA.

Nudges
Nudges Dog Treats are made with 100% real chicken, beef, pork, or duck from within the USA. Its dog treats do not contain any artificial flavors or fillers.
All of its treats are made in the USA, where every batch is tested to ensure safety and quality. It meets all pet food safety rules and regulations of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
However, in 2021 it was acquired by General Mills. General Mills does have partnerships in China. Although from what I was able to find, it still manufactures its products within the US.
Merrick
Merrick was founded in 1988 by Garth Merrick in Hereford, Texas. It uses high-quality ingredients from farmers they know and trust. It does not use fillers, additives, sweeteners, colors, or preservatives in its recipes.
However, in 2015, Merrick Pet Care was bought by the Nestle Purina PetCare Company. It is worth noting that Purina is an American subsidiary of the Swiss Corporation Nestlé, based in St. Louis, Missouri.
It produces and manufactures all of its products in the USA. However, some ingredients are sourced from around the world.

Old Mother Hubbard
The original company was founded in 1926. Today, Old Mother Hubbard’s headquarters is located in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
It was purchased in 2009 by the Wellness Pet Company. Its parent company is Clearlake Capital which has affiliates in Europe, but Old Mother Hubbard still manufactures its products in the US.

Its treats are vet recommended to maintain dental care due to its chewy texture that fights plaque and tartar all the way down to the gum line.
On its website, it does say its treats are made in the USA with ingredients from around the world. I was not able to confirm where the ingredients are sourced from.
