While I’m not going to go into detail on how diapers work, I’m sure that every parent can attest to the importance of a quality diaper. But can you buy American-made diapers? Well, that’s what I’ll be looking at in this article.
Do Any Brands Sell American Made Diapers? (The Short Answer)
After an extensive search for diapers made in the USA, I was able to find a few. They are Huggies, Amazon Mama Bear, Pampers, Earth & Eden, Niki’s Diapers, Thirsties Baby, and Babee Greens.
Diapers Made in the USA (7 Manufacturers)
Now that we know which brands offer American-made diapers let’s look at each one in a little more detail.
Huggies
Huggies is one of the most well-known diaper companies on earth. It operates in countless countries worldwide and its name has become synonymous with baby care. The company was founded in 1968 and it specializes in diapers, training pants, and baby wipes.
Huggies wipes are produced by Kimberly-Clark. I’m sure that most readers would have heard of the name Kimberly-Clark before. It’s a global leader in the baby care business. It’s worth keeping in mind that Kimberly-Clark manufactures its baby products in facilities dotted all over the world.
However, it looks like, for the most part, the country where you live is the country where the diapers are made. While there are some exceptions to the rule, most if not all of Huggies diapers sold in the US are also made in the USA. Check this out for more details regarding Huggies US-based facilities.
So, if you are buying Huggies from a store in the US, it looks like they are made in the US too. Here are a few links to some of Huggies’ American-made diapers for you to check out.
- Baby Diapers Size Newborn (up to 10lbs), 76ct, Huggies Little Snugglers
- Baby Diaper Size 3 (16-28lbs), 156ct, Huggies Little Movers
- Huggies Snug & Dry Baby Diapers, Size 4 180ct, One Month Supply
Amazon Mama Bear
Amazon Mama Bear is an online seller of baby products. It’s part of the Amazon company. I couldn’t find all that much information about the company other than that it manufactures its diapers in the US using materials from both within the US and overseas.
Here’s a link to one of Amazon Mama Bear’s diaper products. This product contains options for a whole heap of different sizes.
Pampers
Pampers is another giant in the baby care industry. Similar to Huggies, Pampers seems to manufacture products in the country that it’s based in. It’s worth noting that some countries such as Sweden get their Pampers from Germany and other countries.
But as for the US, it looks like most of the Pampers sold in the US are also made in the US. Diapers are one of those products that cost a lot to ship overseas due to their size. Because of how much space diapers take up and how cheap they are relative to size, most companies try to produce diapers locally.
Here’s a link to where you can take a virtual tour of one of Pampers’ American-based facilities. Pampers’ diapers are manufactured by Procter & Gamble. Procter & Gamble is another very well-known company that manufactures products for countless companies worldwide.
Here’s a link to Pamper’s official diaper page for those wanting to take a look at what they have. Just keep in mind that it looks like if you live outside the US then the diapers are most likely made outside the US.
Earth and Eden
Earth and Eden is a diaper brand that focuses on eco-friendly and responsibly made baby products. Its diapers are hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested to minimize the risk of skin irritation or allergic reaction in babies.
Earth and Eden know how important it is to provide diapers that are both great for the environment and babies. Its diapers are made with more than 20% plant-based materials, they are gentle on the skin and come with a comfort cuff to reduce any possible leakage.
According to the company’s website, all of its diapers are made in the USA using both locally sourced and globally sourced materials. Here’s a link to the company’s diaper product page.
Nicki’s Diapers
Nicki’s Diapers is a company that focuses on producing high-quality cloth diapers. It is a family-run business with a passion for quality reusable baby diapers. While it’s not as well known as the other companies on this list, it has established itself as one of America’s finest cloth diaper manufacturers.
The company operates out of a facility located in Akron, Ohio, and from what I understand, it looks like this is where it manufactures its diapers. Here’s a link to the company’s product page for those wanting to take a closer look.
Thirsties Baby
Thirsties Baby is a proud American company that offers cloth diapers and baby safety and lifestyle accessories. Thirsties Baby manufactures 100% of its products at its facility in Denver, Colorado. Not only that, it sources over 90% of its fabric domestically making it a great choice for those wanting something that is almost entirely locally produced.
Here’s a link to Thirsties Baby’s diaper product page, and here are a few of its product lines for you to check out.
Babee Greens
Babee Greens offer natural and organic baby diapers made in the USA. The company was founded in 2002 in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It began as a very small operation but it quickly grew to become a fairly large reusable diaper manufacturer.
According to the Babee Green website, babies roughly go through 3,000 disposable diapers each year. This isn’t great for the environment. So that’s where Babee Greens aim to change things. Its reusable diapers are all made in the US in Asheville, North Carolina.
It offers diapers made from organic cotton, hemp, Merino Wool, and even cashmere, so there’s something to fit and suit almost all babies.
Here are some of Babee Green’s organic cloth diapers for you to look at.
Honorable Mention
I found one company that may produce diapers in the USA but I couldn’t find enough proof to back it up. Here’s what I found.
Target Up & Up
Unsurprisingly, Target Up & Up is a brand owned and operated by Target. Target Up & Up sells a wide array of products, this includes baby diapers. At the time of writing this article (April 2023), there were 1,954 Target stores across the US, so I’m sure that almost all American readers will know where their local store is.
As for its manufacturing locations, Target Up & Up products are made by Target Brands Inc. This is a company that operates in China and many other countries in East Asia. However, It looks like its diapers are actually manufactured in the USA.
According to Diaper Dabbler, Target Up & Up diapers are made in the USA. Unfortunately, it didn’t state exactly where the manufacturing takes place. Since Diaper Dabbler is a third-party website, it gets an honorable mention as I could find no information on Target Up & Up’s manufacturing regarding its diapers.
