Some readers may be surprised to know that there are actually a few companies that produce American-made chainsaws. In this article, I will be going through each company that manufactures chainsaws in America.
Which Companies Sell Chainsaws Made in America? (The Short Answer)
I was able to find 4 brands that produce chainsaws in America. They are DeWalt, Stihl, Poulan Pro, and Oregon Tools.
Chainsaws Made in the USA (What My Research Turned Up)
Now that we know which companies make chainsaws in America, let’s look at each one in a little more detail.
DeWalt
Founded in 1924 in Towson, Maryland, DeWalt is a well-known power tool company with more than 13,000 employees and 7 manufacturing plants dotted around America.
All of DeWalt’s products are manufactured in America. DeWalt’s manufacturing facilities can be found in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Connecticut.
DeWalt is an award-winning company that has accumulated countless awards and accolades over the years. In 2022 alone, DeWalt won multiple Pro Tool Innovation Awards for several of its products.

Stihl
Stihl was founded in Waiblingen, Germany in 1926. It is now one of the largest consumer power tool companies on earth. As you can imagine, a company of this size has manufacturing facilities in various countries, this includes a large factory in the US.
Stihl manufactures most of its products in China and the US. Its US facility is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This facility employs over 2000 employees. This factory produces millions of products every year that are sold to more than 90 countries worldwide.
According to the Stihl website, “A majority of Stihl products sold in America are made in America.” So, check with the manufacturer before purchasing to ensure that your particular chainsaw was made in America.
Something worth keeping in mind is that the company gets a lot of its materials from other countries. However, that’s pretty standard these days.
Stihl has received numerous awards for its high-quality products over the years. This includes a Contractors Top 50 New Products award and an Irrigation Twenty award among many more.
As you can imagine, with it being such a large company there is no shortage of options when it comes to Stihl chainsaws. Some of those options are:
Poulan Pro
Poulan Pro was founded in 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana. These days it is a part of the Husqvarna group which has helped to grow the company and has allowed it to expand and become an international brand.
Since Poulan Pro is now an international brand, it has factories dotted all over the world. This includes factories in Sweden, Germany, France, China, Brazil, and the USA.
However, Poulan Pro’s website says its chainsaws are “Built in America from domestic and global components.” So its chainsaws are made in America with parts sourced from various other countries.

Oregon Tools
Finishing off this section we have Oregon Tools. It was founded in 1947 by Joseph Buford Cox in Portland, Oregon. The company’s products are centered around the forestry and agricultural sectors, and it makes tools for all things outdoors, including chainsaws.
Oregon Tools is the smallest company on this list, however, it still employs roughly 3,300 people across its 17 global locations.
Oregon Tools has 10 different manufacturing plants across 5 countries. But most of its chainsaws are made in the US and Canada.
