Brake pads are a crucial part of any vehicle. Without them, you’ll have a hard time stopping! So, with brake pads being so crucial, it goes without saying that they need to be built to a high standard. In this article, I’ll be looking at brake pads made in the USA.
Do Any Companies Sell Brake Pads Made in the USA? (The Short Answer)
It may come as a surprise to some but there are actually a few companies out there that manufacture brake pads in the USA. They are SSBC USA, Baer, FDP Brakes, Akebono, and Lyndall Rotors.
Since some companies only cater to motorcycles and others to cars, I have split this list up into two categories below, the first is for cars and the other is for motorbikes.
Brake Pad Manufacturers in the USA (Here’s What I Found)
Now that we know which brands manufacture brake pads in the USA, let’s look at each one in a little more detail.
Brake Pads For Cars
SSBC USA
SSBC USA was founded in 2019. It dates back further than that, but in 2019 the company was reestablished after its predecessor went under. Since the company was restarted, it has moved its operations to a brand new state-of-the-art facility that produces premier performance brake systems and components.
SSBC USA manufactures its products at a large facility in Elma, New York. It manufactures all things brake related from drum to disc brake conversion kits to caliper upgrade kits and a whole lot more.
After doing some more digging, it looks like the company may conduct some of its manufacturing overseas. This would usually make things tricky when it comes to finding out which of its brake pads are American-made. However, SSBC USA’s website has a page dedicated to its American-made brake products, this makes things a whole lot easier!

FDP Brakes
FDP Brakes was founded in 1969 making it one of the oldest companies on this list. For over half a century FDP Brakes has been working tirelessly (no pun intended!) to produce some of the best brake pads on the market.
The company’s primary manufacturing facility is also its headquarters. Its facility is located in Tappahannock, Virginia. It also has another facility in Trenton, New Jersey as well as a few other places, but from what I was able to find, it looks like all of its manufacturing is carried out within the US.
Since the company was founded, it has produced over 500 million brake pads, so it’s safe to say, FDP Brakes really know what they are doing when it comes to brake pads! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any specific brake pads to link to below, it looks like you have to contact the company or find a local dealer. Akebono
Akebono is a Japanese company that produces various products centered around brakes. While it is a Japanese company, it does conduct its manufacturing in several different countries, this includes the US.
While not all of Akebono’s brake pads are American-made, it does manufacture at least some of its brake pads in the US. All of its aftermarket brake pads are American-made.

Baer
Baer is a high-performance brake system manufacturer. Its headquarters is located in Phoenix, Arizona and it is a proud American manufacturer. According to its official website, Baer’s products feature materials that are sourced from within the US, and its products are machined in-house at its facility in Phoenix.
It is a very well-known company that produces brake-related products for cars, trucks, and more. So it will come as no surprise to learn that it has numerous options when it comes to brake pads. Here’s a link to its brake pad page for those wanting to take a look.
Brake Pads For Motorcycles
Lyndall Rotors
Founded in 1998, Lyndall Rotors is an American manufacturer that produces premium brake components for motorcycles. It is a family-owned business that believes in keeping manufacturing within the US. Not only is this better for the environment, but it is also great as it generates money within the local community.
The company’s headquarters is located in Orange, California. But from what I understand, it manufactures its products at its facility in California as well as another facility located in Texas. According to the company’s website, all of its manufacturing is carried out within the US.
Lyndall Brakes offers a wide array of brake pads, so there’s bound to be some to suit your needs. Its brake pads are designed to be long-lasting, make zero noise, and offer incredible stopping power. Here’s a link to its brake pad product page.
Honorable Mention
I came across a company that manufactures brake pads in the US and the UK. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out which specific brake pads were American made so it gets an honorable mention.
EBC Brakes
EBC Brakes was founded in 1978. As you have probably figured out by its name, EBC Brakes is a company that specializes in producing high-quality brakes. It is a British-owned company and its headquarters is located in Northampton, England.
As mentioned above, it conducts its manufacturing in both the US and the UK. It has one large specialist factory in each country, which makes it tricky to find out which of its brakes are American-made. It does say that the majority of its brake discs and brake rotors are made in the UK, but aside from that, there’s not much more information that I could find.
The company offers brake-related products for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. But I’d recommend reaching out to the company before purchasing to ensure that the brake pads you are interested in are American-made.
