If you think that Canadians and barbecues don’t go together, you are probably imagining icy snowy weather all year round. No one wants to barbecue in that kind of weather. But, Canada does have sunny days and Canadians love BBQs. According to a survey done by Researchco, 66% of Canadians say that they own a barbecue. But are there any BBQs made in Canada that you can buy?
I did my best to find out and you can read about the results of my research below.
Which Companies Sell BBQs Made in Canada? (The Short Answer)
The good news is that there are quite a few companies that offer BBQs made in Canada. They are authentic Canadian businesses and the products are not made overseas. These companies are Napoleon, Broil King and Crown Verity.
A List of Canadian Made BBQs (What I Found)
Now we’ll talk a bit more about each of these Canadian BBQ brands.
Napoleon
Napoleon is one of the most well-known companies that produce BBQs made in Canada.
The company started as a steel fabrication business in 1976 and was known as Wolf Steel Ltd, named after the founder Wolfgang Schroeter. In 1995, the company expanded its product range to include outdoor heating products. Barbecue grills were then added to the offerings. By 2010, the company had opened branches in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Although they produce products around the world, more than 80% of their products are made at their 270,000 square foot facility near Barrie, Canada. In 2018, after parents Wolfgang and Ingrid Schroeter announced their retirement, the business was taken over by their sons. Today, they employ over 1,600 people around the globe.

When it comes to their BBQs, I found this article by Barbecuesgalore. It appears that only the Prestige and Prestige Pro Collections are made in Canada. Like so many companies today, a large number of their other products are made overseas. The full product range includes free-standing and built-in natural gas and propane BBQs, as well as accessories.

Broil King
Broil King is a well-known brand in Canada. They produce a range of gas BBQs and claim on their website that you can “sear steaks to perfection, rotisserie cook poultry or roasts, and even bake elaborate desserts”.
The website does not give any history of the company, but LinkedIn has some information. The company has been established for over 35 years and its products are sold in more than 40 countries.

Most of their products are made at their facilities in Waterloo, Ontario, specifically the Broil King Signet and the Broil King Monarch Series. These products are known for their value-for-money features and durability. They also offer a Pellet Grill Rotisserie that can be used for cooking whole chickens. Their built-in gas grills are ideal for creating a custom outdoor kitchen to suit your specific needs. And, they also supply an outdoor fridge to complete the design.

Crown Verity
Crown Verity dates back to 1892 when it was originally a family business called Verity Plow Company. Crown Verity was launched in 1991 by Bill Verity. They made farm implements and then moved into aircraft components, and commercial restaurant equipment. A line of commercial grills was launched that became the start of Crown Verity.
Their aim is to produce high-class grills and accessories aimed at both private and commercial use. I found an interesting story here on the history of the company.
The company offers BBQs made in Canada and has a production facility in Brantford, Ontario. The Estate Range was launched in 2016 and was inspired by professionals in the cooking industry. It was designed with the homeowner in mind, while still offering all the performance of a commercial kitchen. Crown Verity also makes complementary products like commercial steamers, sinks, and BBQ rotisseries.
On their website, you can download a full-color online magazine called Elements. The magazine is packed full of news, recipes, products, and also features articles by world-renowned chefs who use Crown Verity products in their kitchens.
