One thing that Australians love to do is barbecue. Drive around any suburb on a weekend and you are sure to smell the delicious aromas of meat sizzling on the Barbie. According to an article by Bright R Natural Gas, that followed a study done by Roy Morgan, almost 6 million Australian households own a BBQ. That equates to around 64% of all households. But, are any of these BBQs made in Australia?

I looked high and low, digging into any lead I found to find out which brands, if any, offer BBQs made in Australia. You can find the results of my research below.

Cookout is a producer of Australian made BBQs. They have been in existence since 1995 and specialize in high-quality 316 marine-grade stainless steel BBQs.

All of their products are designed and manufactured in Australia by Southern Stainless located on the Gold Coast. This company operates from Ormeau and services the Gold Coast, Brisbane, South East Queensland, and many other parts of Australia.

Cookout produces a comprehensive range of gas, electrical, portable, and built-in BBQs. They also have a special range for boats and camping in the outdoors, as well as a range of BBQ accessories.

Heatlie Barbecues is another company I found that qualifies as a top Australian BBQ manufacturer. They pride themselves on producing the ‘Toughest BBQs in Australia’.

The company is a family business owned by Mum and Dad, Mal and Andrea Mead, who have been joined by children, Mitch and Alby. Mitch is in charge of Innovation and Operation Development. Alby assists with sister engineering company, Kepno Pty Ltd.

The company acquired Adelaide Letterboxes in June 2020, and named it Heatlie Letterboxes. This venture allows them to produce Australian-made letterboxes, as well as barbecues. All of their products are designed, manufactured, and shipped at their factory located in North Plympton, South Australia.

The range covers flat-plate barbecues, built-in models, drop-in outdoor kitchen models, and industrial roasters for commercial use.
